The internationally acclaimed Afro-Peruvian singer Eva Ayllón will perform at William Paterson University in Wayne on Friday, March 30 at 8 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus as a part of the University’s 2012 Cross-Cultural Arts Festival: Latin America and the Caribbean.

Ayllón, sometimes dubbed “Peru’s Tina Turner,” emerged in the 1970s and immediately established herself as the leading exponent of Afro-Peruvian music. She has produced more than 30 records and has received five Latin Grammy nominations, including a nomination in 2011 for Eva Ayllon Celebra 40 Años Cantandole Al Peru, a compilation of her greatest hits. Ayllón has performed throughout the world, at venues from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Sydney Opera House in Australia. She continues to tour and currently lives in New Jersey.

The performance is part of William Paterson’s Vistas Series, designed to serve the University’s students and faculty, as well as the surrounding multicultural community. Funding for the Vistas Series at William Paterson University has been made possible, in part, by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

Tickets to the performance are $50 orchestra and near loge and $40 rear loge. For ticket information, call the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371 or order online at www.wplive.org.
