University Honored for Commitment to Sustainability by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders

The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders has honored the University with two Green Design Awards for the renovation of Science Hall East and the Smart Buildings Project to recognize the University’s ongoing commitment to sustainability in building and design. The awards were presented at a conference held at the University last month.

Accepting the awards on behalf of the University are (from left) Richard Stomber, associate vice president for administration; James Shelley, plant engineer and assistant director, physical plant operations; Lou Poandl, director, physical plant operations; and University President Kathleen Waldron. Each year, the Board honors Passaic County municipalities, companies and organization that have implemented Green Building Design concepts and techniques into their projects including use of alternative power technologies, green construction and rehabilitation, and recycling. This is the second year in a row that the University received this award.
