Are We Alone in the Universe? Lecture and Stargazing Event on September 28 at William Paterson University

Is there life in the Universe? That question will be the topic of a lecture and stargazing event at William Paterson University in Wayne on Saturday, September 28, 2013.

Jason Kendall, an instructor of astronomy at William Paterson and board member of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York, will present the lecture from 8 to 9 p.m. in Science East 2064. After the lecture, if it is clear outside, everyone will be invited to go to the football field on campus for stargazing.

The Curiosity Rover has found that Mars was habitable billions of years ago. The Galileo spacecraft discovered that the moon Europa around Jupiter holds a liquid water ocean under its ice. Kendall will discuss these and other surprising revelations.

Children over 12 and families are welcome. The event is free. Visitors are invited to park in Lots 2, 4 or 5. For directions go to www.wpunj.edu/maps.

The event is among the festivities scheduled during Homecoming Weekend 2013, sponsored by the University Alumni Association. For more information about the event, email Jason Kendall at KendallJ@wpunj.edu or Song Chung at ChungS@wpunj.edu.
