William Paterson University’s Student Radio Station WP 88.7 FM Wins “Best College Radio Station Award” from New Jersey Broadcasters Association

William Paterson University’s student-run radio station, WP 88.7 FM Brave New Radio, won the inaugural Best College Radio Station of the Year Award at the 2015 New Jersey Broadcasters Association Awards Conference and Gala on June 18, 2015 in Atlantic City.

William Paterson’s WP 88.7 FM has won a stream of prestigious awards, including the “Best Station in the Nation” award from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) in 2012 and 2013, and was a finalist for the award in 2014.

Founded as a closed-circuit on-campus only service in 1967, the campus radio station evolved into a high-tech FM and web streaming station. WP 88.7 FM serves the local community and can be heard across the entire world.

Under the direction of Rob Quicke, assistant professor of communication and general manager of WP 88.7 FM, the station established itself as the national headquarters for College Radio Day and initiated the Bravery in Radio Award, given every year to people or organizations in recognition for pioneering work in the medium of radio. This past year the station honored Elvis Duran of the "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show."
