Cybersecurity Conference to be Held at William Paterson University on June 24

--Industry leaders and experts to discuss latest security technology and protective measures for businesses

--N.J. State Assemblyman Troy Singleton to give keynote address

The latest security technology and solutions in the fight against cyber threats will be the focus of a conference for business executives, entrepreneurs and professionals on Wednesday, June 24 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the 1600 Valley Road Building  at William Paterson University in Wayne.  Admission is free with advance registration at eyesoncyber.com.

“Eyes on Cyber: Cyber Security Conference 2015” will feature industry leaders and experts who will discuss protective measures to keep businesses resilient. The keynote speaker will be New Jersey State Assemblyman Troy Singleton (D-7),who is a sponsor of Assembly Bill 966, which would establish a temporary tax credit program for qualified investments in New Jersey-based cybersecurity companies.

Bhavash Chauhan, principal, security solutions for Verizon, will discuss the 2015 Verizon Data Breach Report, which looks into nine common threat patterns and assesses the impact of data breaches. 

Steve Gutkin, associate director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, will lead a panel focused on how small to medium-sized businesses can protect themselves from cyber threats.  Other panelist include Abel Travis, vice president for product research and development, IDT911; Jerry Lyons, CEO, iFortress; and Dara Orsini, senior account executive, Security Scorecard.

Carol Gabel, CEO of Seven Pearls, which provides risk management services, will moderate a panel on the use of risk management to address cyber threats in sectors such as health, law, accounting, and education by identifying principles and best practices.  Panelists include Karen Randall, partner and chair, Data Security and Privacy Group, Connell Foley LLP; Jeanmarie Tenuto, CEO, Healthcare Technical Solutions; Eric Rosenberg, chief information officer, William Paterson University; and Karl Kispert, CEO, Kispert Group.

The conference is sponsored and hosted by the William Paterson University Small Business Development Center and co-sponsored by the Center for Continuing and Professional Education at William Paterson University and the Passaic County Department of Economic Development.   Funding has been provided by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
