The Capitol Steps will be Presenting “We Put The ‘Mock’ in Democracy!” at William Paterson University on October 17

The Capitol Steps

The Capitol Steps, a group of former Capitol Hill staffers and talented performers, will perform at William Paterson University in Wayne on Friday, October 17, at 8 p.m. in the University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus.

Tickets are available at the Shea Center Box Office in Advance at 973.720.2371 or wp-presents.org. Tickets are $35 for orchestra, $30 for loge and a limited quality of special student price tickets for $10.

The Capitol Steps started out in December 1981 as a group of Senate staffers who wanted to expose the people and places that they worked for. Some staffers for Senator Charles Percy were looking for entertainment for a Christmas party. However, they could not find what they were looking for, so they decided to look through the headlines of the day. With the headlines, they created song parodies and skits.

With more than 30 years of political satire, the Capitol Steps have recorded over 30 albums, including their latest, How to Succeed in Congress Without Really Lying. They can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials. They have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS.
