WP Bowling Team Ranks 14th in the Nation at End of Regular Season

The William Paterson University Bowling Team is currently ranked 14th in the country following the conclusion of the regular season, according to rankings released on February 23 by CollegeBowling.com. This ranking is based on points earned from regular season tournaments and competition.  In addition, the latest coach’s poll released by the National Collegiate Bowling Coach’s Association ranks the team 15th in the country.

During the 2015-16 season, the team won four “Tier 2” tournaments—the Blue Hen Open, Penn Classic, Steven’s Invitational Tournament, and the Eastern Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Tournament—in which they competed against universities from the Northeast region of the country. In addition, the team earned three top ten finished and two top 15 finishes at “Tier 1,” or major, national-level tournaments. The Pioneers finished 12th out of 60 universities at the Kegel Midwest Collegiate Classic in Chicago, Illinois, and 15th out of 78 universities at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana, which is the largest college tournament in the country.

The team competes next at the Sectional Qualifiers, held March 11to 13, where they will be competing to qualify for the Intercollegiate Team National Championships held in Wichita, Kansas in April.  The team is led by Head Coach Greg Hatzisavvas ’08, MS 12, who has been with the program for the last 12 years.
