Winner of the Ninth Annual New Jersey Playwrights Contest—Musicals to Present “Mother Eve’s Secret Garden Of Sensual Sisterhood” from June 6 to 23


“Mother Eve’s Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood” with a book by Uma Incrocci, Erica Jensen, Kirk McGee, and music by Christian Pedersen, with lyrics by Uma Incrocci, is the winner of the Ninth Annual New Jersey Playwrights Contest—Musicals Series. The musical will be presented at William Paterson University in Wayne from June 6 to 23 in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre on campus.

“Mother Eve’s Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood” is a rock musical with humor and heart. The story follows a sassy, sensual, self-help guru who transforms women’s lives by teaching them how to unleash their inner sensuality and to love themselves as much as they love cheese.

“Mother Eve’s Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood” features Lindsey Ashlen of Astoria, N.Y., as the Bird of Paradise; Leah Beekman, a WP grad student, of Wharton as Rhododendron; Chelsea Dacey of New York, N.Y., as Echinacea; Amy Edelstein, a WP alumna, of New York, N.Y., as Mustard Plant; Jennifer Lubach, a WP alumna of Bayonne as Snapdragon; Debra Lynch of Wyckoff as Mother Eve; Lisa Maxon of Brooklyn, N.Y., as Rose; Sam Sultan of Golden’s Bridge, N.Y., as Guitar Boy; and Justin Zimmerman of Allendale as Practice Guy. The production is directed and co-produced by Edward Matthews, professional staff member; Shari Selke, professional staff member, is co-producer and production stage manager, and Samara Grossman of North Plainfield serves as choreographer. The staff also includes Bill Motyka of Blairstown, set designer; Jeff Carr of Highland Park, lighting designer; Vanessa Leuck of Floral Park, N.Y., costumer designer; and Todd Erwin of Lyndhurst, sound designer.

“Mother Eve’s Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood,” a musical for mature audiences, will be performed on June 6-8 at 8 p.m., June 9 at 3 p.m., June 14-15 at 8 p.m., June 16 at 3 p.m., June 21-22 at 8 p.m. and June 23 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $18 general, $12 William Paterson community and senior citizens and $10 students. A special preview performance is scheduled for June 6 with all tickets $10.
