Master Painter from China to Present Demonstration at William Paterson University on April 30

Xiaofu Yu, a renowned master painter from China and the vice president of the Shanghai Artists Association, will present an oil painting demonstration on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the William Paterson University Power Art Center painting studio, 25 Power Avenue, in Wayne.  Admission is free. The demonstration is part of the Distinguished Visiting Artist Series presented by the University Center for Chinese Art.

Xiaofu Yu is the dean of the Fine Arts College of Shanghai Normal University, as well as the vice president of Shanghai Oil Painting and Sculpture Institute. Born and raised in Shanghai, he was trained in the prestigious Fine Art Department of the Shanghai Theater Academy. In 1984, his painting “Tenderly I Knocked on the Door” created a nationwide sensation in the Chinese art world. Yu also won the bronze medal at the Seventh National Art Exhibition in 1989; gold medal at the first Shanghai Art Exhibition in 2001; and silver medal at the Tenth National Art Exhibition in 2004.
