William Paterson University to Present Staged Readings of Three Finalists from the Eleventh Annual New Jersey Playwrights Contest Play Series from Febrary 4 To 6 Three finalists from the 11th Annual New Jersey Playwrights Contest (NJPC) will have staged readings of their plays presented on Tuesday, February 4; Wednesday, February 5; and Thursday, February 6, at William Paterson University in Wayne. The performances will be held at 7 p.m. on campus in the University’s Hunziker Black Box Theatre. Admission is free. “The Baby Game,” by Michele Aldin Kushner of Manalapan, is about the battle two couples face after being promised the adoption rights to the same unborn child. It will be presented on February 4. “Trial and Treason,” by S. W. Senek of West Orange, describes a hostage situation and interrogation of a fictional president of the U.S. It will be presented on February 5. “Put Them Away,” by Jim Christy of Princeton, presents a situation where a boy retaliates against his parents for punishing him—involving the FBI. It will be presented on February 6. Guests are welcome to stay after the performance to meet the authors and provide audience feedback. The winner of the contest will later have a full production in December 2014. The NJPC strives to support the work of emerging New Jersey playwrights.
