The Royal Bopsters to Perform in Jazz Room Series at William Paterson University on October 16

—Performance features legendary jazz vocalist Bob Dorough

The William Paterson University Jazz Room presents the vocal jazz quartet The Royal Bopsters on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at 4 p.m. in the University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts.

Tickets are $15 general public, $12 WP community and seniors, $8 non-WP students, WP students admitted free with ID, $3 additional charge on show day per ticket.

This new version of the established vocal quartet features scat-singers Amy London, Dylan Pramuk, Holli Ross, and presents the group’s newest regular member, William Paterson’s own virtuoso singer/trombonist/arranger Pete McGuinness. Drawing from the freewheeling bebop vocalese tradition of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, their tight arrangements are created to feature each member’s improvisational prowess. For this concert, the group is joined by special guest, legendary jazz vocalist Bob Dorough who is known for jazz hits like “Nothing Like You” with Miles Davis and Gil Evans, and his work on the ABC Television series “School House Rock.”

Prior to the concert, The Royal Bopsters will be the guests for “Sittin’ In,” an informal discussion about jazz in the Shea Center. Admission to “Sittin’ In” is free to all Jazz Room ticket holders.

Tickets for the performance are available at the Shea Center Box Office in advance at 973.720.2371 or wp-presents.org or on the day of the performance.
