William Paterson University Welcomes New First Year and Transfer Students on August 31, 2016

--Kareem McKenzie, MEd ’16, former New York Giants offensive tackle, will address first-year students

William Paterson University will officially welcome its new first year and transfer students to the campus on “New Student Welcome Day” on August 31, 2016. The series of events is designed to welcome new students and introduce them to the University’s academic support services and peer support groups. Events include:

9:00 a.m. 
Connections:  New first year students will meet with Peer Leaders to get acclimated to the campus and acquainted with their fellow classmates.

10:00 a.m. 
First-Year Student Welcome: New first year students will assemble in the Rec. Center and have an opportunity to hear from the University President, Provost, alumni and current students. Kareem McKenzie, MEd ‘16, former New York Giants offensive tackle, will speak to the students.

11:00 a.m. 
Transfer Student Welcome:  New transfer students will assemble in Shea Auditorium for a welcome address from the President, Provost and current transfer students. This is the first formal welcome activity for transfer students.

11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Academic Services Fair:  New first year and transfer students will have an opportunity to meet with academic success personnel and learn about various services available at WP. The fair will be in University Commons.

 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. 
Lunch: Boxed lunches will be made available for New and Transfer students.

2:00 p.m.
Choices” Presentation:  First year commuter students will view an interactive presentation conducted by the Peer Health Advocates. This presentation touches on a variety of experiences and issues new students may face as they transition into university life.  Residential students will view the presentation on move-in day.

6:00 - 10:30 p.m.  
Student Center Takeover:  New first year and transfer students can participate in a variety of activities in the lower level of the Student Center, including arcade & billiards, Pioneer Café – Java & Music, board games, caricatures, and airbrush hats, as well as a Think Fast Game Show in the Multipurpose Room starting at 9:00 p.m.
