Jazz and Blues Singer Catherine Russell Celebrates Valentine’s Day at William Paterson University’s Onstage Café At Shea on February 14

Internationally renowned jazz and blues singer Catherine Russell celebrates Valentine’s Day with a special performance as part of the Onstage Café at Shea at William Paterson University in Wayne on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 8 p.m. in the Shea Center of Performing Arts on campus.

Tickets are available in advance or on the day of the show at $60 for onstage seating with a complete dinner/dessert buffet and beer-and-wine bar, or $32 for the show only.  Dinner ticket holders should arrive at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy full service and open bar.

Grammy Award winner Catherine Russell is a native New Yorker who has performed on four continents and at countless jazz festivals. In 2012, she won a Grammy Award for her appearance on the soundtrack for HBO’s hit TV series “Boardwalk Empire.”

Russell was born into jazz royalty—her father, Luis Russell, was Louis Armstrong’s musical director, and her mother, Carline Ray, was a well-known bassist and vocalist. Russell has toured the world and recorded and performed with Steely Dan, David Bowie, Paul Simon, Cyndi Lauper, Jackson Browne, Michael Feinstein, Levon Helm and Rosanne Cash. She is considered one of the greatest interpreters of the American songbook.
