William Paterson University’s newest academic building, University Hall, was awarded a silver citation in the 2016 American School & University Educational Interiors Showcase, a premier competition honoring education interiors excellence.

University Hall was among 78 projects selected to be profiled in the August issue of American School & University.

The jury praised the building for having “great connection between common space along spine and outdoor terrace, as well as between floors,” according to the magazine. Contractors included NK Architects in Morristown, New Jersey, Structure Studio and AKF Engineers.

University Hall opened in January 2016 and was the first step in a plan to modernize facilities in the academic core of the campus. The project was funded in part by $30 million from the state’s “Building our Future” Bond Act.
