The Bill Charlap Trio, with Bassist Peter Washington and Drummer Kenny Washington, will Perform at William Paterson University on October 1 Bill Charlap The Bill Charlap Trio, with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington, will perform at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at William Paterson University in Wayne. The performance is part of the University's Midday Artist Series and will take place at the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus. Admission is free. $5 donation is suggested in support of the WP music scholarship fund. Pianist Bill Charlp, newly appointed as William Paterson’s director of jazz studies, brings his world-renowned trio to the Midday stage. The trio has been playing at many world concert stages, jazz clubs and major festivals for over 20 years. They are considered to be a premiere jazz group because of their longevity and reputation of each of its members. Charlap has had a long career with saxophonist Gerry Mulligan and Phil Woods. The trio is also featured with singer Tony Bennet in the new CD of Jerome Kern’s songs.
