One-Woman Stage Play of “The Secret Life of Bees” to be Staged at William Paterson University on October 28

A one-woman version of the best-selling novel “The Secret Life of Bees” will be presented as part of American Place Theatre’s Literature to Life Program at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, at William Paterson University in Wayne. The performance will take place at the University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus.

This show is based on The New York Times best-selling book by Sue Monk Kidd. Set in North Carolina during the Civil Rights movement, the story is about Lily Owens, a 14-year-old white girl, who is on a search for the truth about her mother’s death. Her journey leads her to three eccentric African American beekeeping sisters, who help her discover the real meaning of family.

Literature to Life, the American Place Theatre’s performance-based literacy program, presents professionally staged adaptations of significant American works.
