The William Paterson Family Portal, launched in 2023, is your personalized gateway to staying informed, engaged, and connected with the WP community. Whether you're a parent, guardian, sibling, or supporter, the portal is designed to help you navigate your student’s college journey with confidence and clarity.

What You Can Do in the Portal:

  • Receive Timely Updates: Get important campus news, deadlines, and announcements delivered to your inbox or phone.
  • Customize Your Experience: Choose your interests and how often you want to hear from us.
  • Join Communities: Connect with other families based on your student’s major, class year, or shared interests.
  • Access Resources: Find helpful tools, checklists, and event information to support your student’s success.
  • Engage with Events: Register for programs like the Real Talk Series, Family Book Club, and more.
  • Share Information: Easily forward updates to your student or your social networks.

Encouraging Connection Through Comments in the Family Portal

Families can deepen their experience in the Family Portal—and even connect with one another—by commenting on posts and discussion boards. These comments create a sense of community, spark conversation, and help families feel like they’re part of something bigger than just a website. Whether it’s sharing excitement about an upcoming event or offering a helpful tip, comments turn information into interaction.

Portal Commenting Guidelines

To maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for all users, we ask that families follow these guidelines when posting comments or engaging in discussions within the portal:

  • Be Respectful: Treat all members of the WP community with kindness and courtesy. Personal attacks, harassment, or discriminatory remarks will not be tolerated.
  • Stay On Topic: Keep comments relevant to the post or discussion. Off-topic or promotional content may be removed.
  • Protect Privacy: Do not share personal information about your student or others (e.g., ID numbers, grades, health details).
  • Use Appropriate Language: Avoid profanity, inflammatory language, or content that could be considered offensive.
  • Report Concerns: If you see a comment that violates these guidelines, please report it to the Parent and Family Relations team at wpfamilies@wpunj.edu.
