Parking Garage FAQ

General Garage Operations

1.     How do I sign up for access to park in the Pioneer Parking Garage?

Students can sign up for semester or yearly parking access to the Pioneer Parking Garage through WPconnect. Search in WPconnect for ‘Pioneer Parking Garage Student Signup’ to find the link to register for access.

Employees can sign up through WPconnect by searching for the ‘Pioneer Express & Pioneer Parking Garage Payroll Deduction’ link.

Hourly and daily parking are also available. See the section below for additional information.

2.     Can I use my ID card to enter Pioneer Garage and pay for parking?

The ID card is no longer needed to access the parking garage. For those on an academic year or semester plan, your license plate number will automatically grant you access to the parking garage, providing that you have the most current license plate information on the University’s vehicle registration database.

To update your vehicle registration, search WPconnect for ‘Vehicle Parking Registration’ or use this registration link.

In rare cases when your license plate is not read correctly, you can still use your ID as a backup method to gain access to the parking garage, provided you are on an academic year or semester plan.

For those paying hourly/daily (guests), you will take a ticket upon entering the garage at the entry gate station. Before you can exit, you must pay the parking fee. Credit or debit cards will be the only accepted Payment Method for the parking garage. Cash and Pioneer Express cards are no longer accepted. All hourly/daily guests can pay either at the exit gate station by scanning the ticket barcode or through the WPU Pioneer parking garage mobile pay website by scanning the ticket QR code on a mobile phone. All payments are finalized at the exit gate station with either payment method.

3.     My license plate is not read or not recognized. What do I do?

In rare cases when your license plate is not read correctly, you can still use your ID as a backup method to gain access to the parking garage, provided you are on an academic year or semester plan.

If you are not an academic year or semester plan subscriber, your license plate number will not be on the parking garage database system, and you will have to pull a ticket from the entry gate station. Once you have a ticket, you can pay for it at the exit gate station or through the mobile pay website before exiting the parking garage.

4.     How do I exit the garage?

Follow signs to the nearest exit. At the gate:

  • For students or employees on a yearly or semester parking plan, your license plate will be read and allow you to exit.
  • For daily/hourly parkers, you must scan your ticket at the gate exit pay station, pay using a credit or debit card, and the gate will open for exit.

5.     What if the gate doesn’t open when I’m trying to exit the garage?

There is an intercom at the gate exit pay station. Press the button, and you’ll be connected to a person who will help you. (The intercom system is connected to the dispatch office of Campus Police. You will be connected to a live person in this office.)

    6.     Can I park my motorcycle in the garage?

No. Sensors of the garage do not function with motorcycles.

    7.     Can I park my bicycle in the garage?

No. The garage space is designed for cars and there is currently no bike parking accommodation.

    8.     What is the maximum height vehicle I can park in the garage?

Vehicles up to 8’2” can fit in the garage.

    Hourly/Daily Parking

    1.     How do I pay for parking in Pioneer Garage on an hourly or daily basis?

You will pull a ticket at the entry gate station when you enter the garage. Do not leave your entry ticket inside your vehicle. When you are ready to exit the garage, before you exit, you must pay the parking fee. Credit or debit cards will be the only accepted payment method for the parking garage. Cash and Pioneer Express cards are no longer accepted.

You can pay either at the exit gate station by scanning the ticket barcode or through the WPU Pioneer parking garage mobile pay website by scanning the ticket QR code on a mobile phone. All payments are finalized at the exit gate station with either payment method.

    2.     What forms of payment are accepted at the pay stations?

Credit or debit cards will be the only accepted method of payment for the parking garage. Cash and Pioneer Express cards are no longer accepted.

    3.     What should I do if the exit pay station does not accept my credit card or debit card?

Each pay station has an intercom you can use if there is any problem with making your payment. The intercom system is connected to the dispatch office of Campus Police. You will be connected to a live person in this office.

    4.     What should I do if I lose my ticket while parked in the garage on an hourly or daily basis?

If you lost your original ticket when leaving the garage, you will need to use the intercom button at the exit pay station. Please inform the operator of your lost ticket, and you will be issued a lost ticket fee of a full daily rate.

    5.     What happens if I’m parked in the garage on a daily or hourly basis, or as a commuter student, faculty, or staff, and accidentally leave my car in the garage overnight?

Only resident students enrolled in one of the parking plans are allowed to leave a car in the garage overnight. Daily/hourly parkers who do so will be required to pay a full daily rate, payable on exit at the exit pay station. Unauthorized cars left multiple nights or indefinitely will be subject to fines and/or towing.
