Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program

William Paterson University Launching New Round of Predoctoral Fellowships (2023-2025)

Launched in 2021, the predoctoral fellowship program at William Paterson University supports advanced-standing doctoral candidates who desire a teaching career at an institution that emphasizes teaching quality and encourages multiple forms of scholarship. The program invests in the success of predoctoral students—coursework completed and working on dissertation—from underrepresented backgrounds either at the institutional or disciplinary levels. Departments commit to mentoring these fellows and to providing similar levels of research support as they would for tenure-track faculty. The fellows teach in the department and participate in a cohort experience designed to position them for success in a tenure-track appointment at William Paterson or other institution of higher education after degree completion. This year the fellowship program also includes one postdoctoral teaching fellow opportunity in chemistry with the same mentoring support as the predoctoral fellows.
