IMPORTANT CLINICAL INFORMATION Clinical Practice I (CPI) PRAXIS Requirement:Participation in Clinical Practice I requires that a teacher candidate has taken all parts of all PRAXIS (II) Subject Assessment exam(s) relative to the education major and endorsements. The teacher candidate does not need to pass any or all parts of the exam, but must have attempted it. Official scores must be received by the Office of Education Enrollment and Certification by August 15th for Fall CPI and by January 1st for Spring CPI. Clinical Practice II (CPII) Passing PRAXIS Requirement:Participation in Clinical Practice II requires that a teacher candidate has passed all parts of all PRAXIS (II) Subject Assessment exam(s) relative to the education major and endorsements. Official scores must be received by the Office of Education Enrollment and Certification by August 15th for Fall CPII and by January 1st for Spring CPII. The following guidelines and information will assist you in applying for and participating in clinical experience and clinical practice. All applicants should possess a criminal history background report using the WP reporting codes and a substitute teacher's license. These documents must be sent to the Office of Field Experiences three months prior to the beginning of the clinical work. Substitute workshops are held each semester on campus. A Mantoux test is required. This can be done at the WPU Health and Wellness Center. This must be on file at the Office of Field Experiences three months prior to your field experience. Beginning fall 2018 all teacher candidates must take all required licensure exams (PRAXIS test(s) for all certification areas prior to Clinical Practice I. Official PRAXIS scores for all certification areas must be submitted to the Office of Certification by August 15th for Clinical Practice I in the fall semester and January 1st for Clinical Practice I in the spring semester. All teacher candidates must take and pass all required licensure exams (PRAXIS test(s) for all certification areas prior to Clinical Practice II (student teaching). Official passing PRAXIS scores for all certification areas must be submitted to the Office of Certification by August 1st for Clinical Practice II (student teaching) in the fall semester and January 1st for Clinical Practice II (student teaching) in the spring semester. You must notify the Office of Field Experiences of any changes in name, address or telephone number, in addition to the Registrar's Office. Placement grids will be posted on the large Office of Field Experiences bulletin board, indicating the school district to which your placement request has been sent. An "A" next to your name indicates acceptance by that school district. It is your responsibility to call the school to introduce your self to your cooperating teacher as soon as you receive your placement confirmation. An "I" next to your name means that the school district or a particular school in the district requires that you be interviewed. You will receive all communication about placement conformations and interview requests via your WP e-mail. It is your responsibility to call the school and set up a requested interview as soon as you receive the request. Dress professionally for interviews and all clinical work. You will receive information concerning an orientation which will be held at the beginning of the semester of your clinical work. You will be given all assignment information at the orientation. Attendance at orientations is required. You must notify the Office of Field Experiences in writing if it is necessary for you to postpone your placement to another semester. In addition to submitting your application to the Office of Field Experiences, you must register for the necessary courses. You are required to attend and participate in seminars as a part of clinical experiences and clinical practice.
