The Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine (BS in SMED) is an accelerated program. The program spans 3 years including summer sessions. The program is intended to be a component of the Accelerated 3+2 BS in Sports Medicine/MS in Athletic Training. Students who do not wish to pursue or who do not meet the requirements for acceptance into the MS in AT can still matriculate into and graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports medicine. The BS in SMED prepares students to work in the sports medicine field, in venues such as in clinics, hospitals, fitness centers, and doctors' offices. Also, the BS in SMED prepares students for graduate study in professions such as athletic training, physical therapy, and exercise physiology.
