What Works Conference, December 16th 9am - 4:30pm

Session proposals are to be submitted via THIS LINK by November 4, with decisions anticipated by late November. Submissions should include: 

Session Title 

Name(s), title(s), and email(s) for each presenter 

Presentation style: Lecture, panel, student voice (panel with students), roundtable, or case study analysis 

Session Description (including session goals, 300 words max.) 

Plan for engaging attendees in light of the virtual format 

Panel session length: 25 minutes (mostly for single speakers, case study analysis and round table discussions) or 50 minutes (mostly for multiple speakers). 

Criteria for selection include (a) clarity of proposal, (b) likely interest to session attendees, (c) evidence of impact, or prospective impact, on students, (d) potential for attendee application of learning, (e) how well the proposal applies to the conference theme.

New Faculty Mentoring Program

    Each first year tenure-track faculty member is paired up with an experienced colleague who can act as a mentor to help him/her navigate the process of acclimation to the WPU community. The Center works in conjunction with the Provost's office to assign new faculty mentors who are typically in the same College as the mentees but outside their own Department. CTE provides necessary support for mentorship, and offers lunch vouchers to facilitate mentor-mentee meetings. Mentors are expected to keep in touch with the new faculty member throughout the academic year and meet them at least once each semester. A call for volunteering as mentors is announced by the Provost’s office in early September each year. The Center can also act as an intermediary for any untenured faculty member who would like help securing a mentor.
