In 2009-2010 our assessment efforts evolved even further to include Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This initiative was an effort to create “Dashboard Indicators” specifically applicable to the Division of Student Development and consistent with those already being employed by the institution to capture other critical dimensions of performance (e.g., headcount enrollment, retention, and graduation rates). The Assessment Team spent a great deal of time reflecting on the essential dimensions of what we do in our Division which cut across the various Sectors and departments. Through this process we identified four themes which we felt captured, in broad strokes, the essence of what we do as a Division: Degree of Student Satisfaction, Student Development, Degree of Student Engagement, and Creation of a Safe and Supportive Learning Environment. For the first year, we decided to focus on Degree of Student Satisfaction and Student Development. We devised a standard question relating to each of these concepts, which departments then broadly utilized in their assessment work this past year. What follows are the overall results of our extensive assessment work this past year on these two Key Performance Indicators.
