Sunday Tea at Hobart Manor In 2009 the Hobart Manor Revitalization Committee kicked off their annual signature event, the Sunday Tea at Hobart Manor, to bring alumni and community friends onto William Paterson University’s beautiful campus, to experience the breathtaking showpiece that is Hobart Manor, and to learn more about the history of Passaic County. The Annual event takes place annually on the first Sunday in June and includes a guest lecturer addressing topics relevant to Passaic County and its inhabitants, followed by the Tea in Hobart Manor. Lectures are in partnership with the County of Passaic. Information on this year’s Tea is below. *The Lecture is presented in partnership with the County of Passaic. 2025 Sunday Tea at Hobart Manor Sunday, June 1, 2025 LECTURE | 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. | Shea Recital Hall 101“Passaic County and the American Revolution” Admission: Free As New Jersey and the nation prepare to mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, there is a growing interest in revisiting and reinterpreting the complex military and political struggle that led to the formation of the United States. While Passaic County may not have been the site of major battles, it played a significant role in the war, witnessing constant movements of Continental Army regiments, militias, supply trains, messengers, and political figures. Its strategic location, positioned along key overland routes, provided a relatively safe passage between New England and the Mid-Atlantic colonies, far enough from New York City to offer some security. While most Revolutionary War histories emphasize military and political outcomes, the everyday experiences of those who lived through the conflict are often overlooked, yet they are just as important to understanding the war's full impact. This presentation, through ongoing research and studies, aims to offer a richer, deeper insight into the American Revolution, both in Passaic County and beyond. This presentation is brought to you by the County of Passaic Department of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
