World Languages Placement Testing William Paterson University requires all students to complete a 0-6 credit world language requirement for a baccalaureate degree. Proficiency in a foreign language may exempt you from this requirement and possibly earn you credits, but high school foreign language work is not automatically accepted. To start the placement process, please complete this survey. The Department of Language, Literature, Culture, and Writing offers placement tests for Chinese, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish, which can be taken on campus if needed. For Arabic, Japanese, Korean or other languages, please contact the department at lc-placement@wpunj.edu.
