The Computer Science graduate program at William Paterson offers a comprehensive curriculum leading to a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. This program is designed to equip students with a robust foundation and keen interest in computer science for careers in areas such as software development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data science. It also provides an excellent preparation for those who wish to pursue further studies at the doctoral level.

To accommodate the needs of working professionals, all classes are scheduled during evenings and weekends with Hybrid option.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the University’s admission requirements:

Educational Background:

  •  A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Applicants with degrees in other field by taking courses in our prerequisite program.
  • International applicants provide information on US degree equivalency evaluation from university approved agency.

GPA (Grade Point Average):

  •  A minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) is required.
  • Other indications of the ability to complete the program.

English Language Proficiency (for International Applicants):

  • TOEFL: Minimum scores of 500/170/60 for paper/computer/internet versions.
  • IELTS: Minimum overall score of 6.0.

Pre-requisite Courses: Completion of Object-oriented Programming (CS 2400 or equivalent) and Statistics I (MATH 2300 or equivalent) are required for all students entering the program.
